The Time Has Come

At 8:10 PM, October 18th, Dingo passed away.

I wanted to set this marker as the date and time of his passing for those who have been thinking about him and couldn't be here.

When I gather enough energy I will be blogging about our last day together.

Much love to all from us both and from Dingo.

These photos are taken Monday morning October 19th. Both memorials are Dingo's two favorite places to lay and watch the world. The front driveway where he could greet neighbors, their dogs, customers, delivery drivers and keep a watchful eye on squirrels. The back yard was his favorite place to stare into nature and contemplate life.

Dingo we love you and you are so truly missed.

  1. Oh Dingo...words cannot express how saddened we are at this time. You were such a brave boy and so beautiful to be around. As the sadness passes, it shall be replaced by all the beautiful memories that were shared. We'll love you forever 'Super Dog'!

  2. Words cannot express how terrible I feel. I just saw Dingo last weekend and he seemed fine. All I can say is; Dingo had the best parents a dog could ever have. Thank goodness for you two, Mark and Barry.

  3. Dear Dingo

I was with your human parents when they adopted you at the pound. We were so excited that you were joining our family. Through the years you gave them and our family much joy and love.

You were such a valiant warrior in the fight against cancer and your parents did everything possible to provide with the medical tools to help you fight this battle.

You have left a large hole in our hearts and will truly be missed. Many hugs and belly rubs to you my little friend.

    Love
    Grandma D

  4. Mark,
My sympathies go out to you and the rest of Dingo's family and friends. You did everything that you could to give Dingo a great quality of life during a very tough illness.
Both you and him put up a very tough fight, and although he is no longer with you, his memory will live on forever.....

    The Rainbow Bridge...
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

  5. I lost my own beloved Laddie just about a month ago, so I can readily sympathize with how you are feeling at this moment. While the tears have decreased, the pain is still there, and probably will be for a while. I have found it helps to concentrate more on the good/fun memories than remember the last days.

I am sorry for your loss.

  6. Dear Mark and Barry,

Pete and I are so sad.

When we left this time, we didn't think that we wouldn't see him again. I can't believe we weren't there to say goodbye and to be there for you guys. We will be home soon.

We are thinking of you guys and remembering Ding. Last night Pete and I fondly recalled all the names we called him. Ding-Ding. Ding-Dong. The Dingster. Ding-a-ling. I always like to call him Sweetpea - because he had the sweetest heart.
